CA FUNDIS Job Opening - Sierra Nevada Collector

As a CA FUNDIS Collector, you will visit permitted sites to collect fungal specimens in adherence with CA FUNDIS collection protocols and strategy.  You will collect high quality fungal collections, meet with the team online, and have opportunities for intermittent group collection trips. The study areas are on permitted lands throughout the state of California. You will report to the CA FUNDIS Coordinator and the CA FUNDIS Collections Lead. This position involves driving in your personal vehicle or finding transit to the permitted field locations. Successful applicants will be self-starting individuals who work independently with minimal supervision for the duration of field work. Collectors are not provided with accommodations or housing and are expected to make day trips to field sites by themselves with periodic optional field trips with other team members. 

This position is primarily for someone who would be willing and able to collect in the Sierra Nevada region, in addition to other regions across California, with a focus in the following counties: 

  1. Alpine County
  2. El Dorado County 
  3. Nevada County
  4. Plumes County
  5. Inyo County
  6. Mono County
  7. Placer County
  8. Sierra County
  9. Tuolumne County

CA FUNDIS Job Opening - Fungarium Assistant at UCLA

As a CA FUNDIS Fungarium Assistant,  you will work in the University of California, Los Angeles Herbarium,  assisting the management of CA FUNDIS specimens.  You will work under the direction of Fugarium Director Dr. Anthony Baniaga to process and access fungal collections in accordance with institution protocols at UCLA. Your role’s primary responsibilities will include boxing, labeling, and storing specimens. You may occasionally assist the other Fungarium Assistant’s across California in preparing online MycoPortal submissions. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about herbaria/fungaria processes as well as fungal conservation. Closing May 5th, or until a suitable applicant is hired.

You may occasionally assist the other Fungarium Assistant’s across California in preparing online MycoPortal submissions.
